So, I was flipping through some of the pictures from my brother's wedding, and it occurred to me... all of "our" songs are 1940s/50s "rat pack"/swing kind of songs. For the life of me I can't remember what the song my brother and his wife danced to was, but my Mom & Dad's song is Dean Martin's "That's Amore," and my husband and mine's is Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off You."
What is it about that era that produced so many great "our" songs?
(My sister and her husband may break this trend, but I don't know what their song is, since there wasn't dancing at their wedding.)
