Why I hate Jiffy Mailers
It's not an unreasonable hate, really. I got this in the mail today:

Things They Don't Teach You in Library School: #1
Interlibrary loan.
Ok, ok, I'm kidding.
Ok, not really. None of my unscientific sampling of my alma mater's or the other library school's course catalogs has turned up a class on anything involving interlibrary loan, resource sharing, et cetera. (And don't get me started on the dearth of circulation course offerings. Seriously.)
But ILL is a big subject, and the thing they really don't teach you is about bags.
Mailing bags. You are going to be reusing them, and although the fluff-filled Jiffy mailers are more padded than the bubble-lined Jiffy mailers, the fluff-filled mailers are the evil spawn of the devil. One rip, and there is fluff everywhere. Evil, evil, static-y fluff. Reusable courier bags are awesome, although they would be nicer if they had some kind of quilted lining inside the water-resistant canvas shell.
Either way, you will be peeling labels and blacking out text on a variety of mailing bags, and possibly boxes, depending what and to whom you're shipping.
But you're not going to be hearing about it in a class anytime soon.
