Pumpernickel, Day 5

It's been over 24 hours with the first starter doing nothing (I think my oven may have a fluorescent bulb... stupid efficiency...) so we're starting over.  This time I'm going to put it under an incandescent bulb in the other room when there's no heat active in the kitchen, such as the slow cooker it's currently parked next to.

Starter #2!
And here's a random squirrel from the other day when it snowed that I was testing out the 12x (digital) zoom on my camera on.  I wanted to get him while he was still hanging on the siding on the side of the garage, but he jumped off too quick.  Digital zoom is a bit grainy this far out.

I should put out some corn in the feeder for these guys.

Update:

I've got the starter under an incandescent lamp now.  The bulb that was in it had gone out, and finding a replacement bulb was a bit of a scavenger hunt.  If I can still find them for sale, I need to buy a bunch for purposes like this.

Incubating!

Someone is jealous of the incubation.
